How far in advance should we book our session?
The earlier the better, as our calendar fills quickly. Our calendar opens for the next season 2-3 months in advance.

When are sessions scheduled?
Since are full time photographers, we shoot both on weekdays and weekends. When booking your session, we'll compare calendars to select the perfect date and time for your family.

Do you offer mini sessions?
Yes! Because of the condensed nature of these sessions, mini sessions are only offered to current clients. We find they are most success when we know your children and how to best photograph them, and when they are comfortable with us. After your first session, you are welcome to book mini sessions at any time! The exception is our holiday mini sessions, which are open to all.

What if we want to do multiple session in one year?
As a relationship based studio, we especially love seeing our little clients several years over the course of the year. Our a-list portrait membership is the perfect way to accomplish this!

Where do sessions take place?
Our classic sessions take place at home or at a mutually agreed upon location. At home sessions are our specialty, and where we can create stunning, personal images. No need to have a showcase home or a park-like backyard. We've worked in hundreds of homes over the years, and have never met one that doesn't photograph well. If you wish to shoot elsewhere, we are happy to provide you with our recommended locations based on your style and vision. Above all, the most important element is selecting a location with beautiful lighting and that is overall conducive to a great session. Our mini sessions are held at our handpicked locations throughout the Capital District.

What if it rains?
If our session is scheduled outdoors, we will keep a close eye on the forecast and reschedule if the weather isn't favorable (high winds, rain or heavy overcast). Sunlight is an important element in our light and bright style, and we ask that you trust our judgement when it comes to whether or not the conditions are favorable for shooting. We often wait to make the call in the morning, since our Northeast forecasts change so rapidly. There is no charge for rescheduling due to weather.

What about illness?
Under the weather kids are not photo ready, for a variety of reasons. Trust us when we say (in our lengthy experience) that when one or more small family members are not feeling well, we almost always need to reshoot. There is no charge for rescheduling due to illness, and we kindly ask that you be sure to do so.

My children have short attention spans. Will a session be too long for them?
A common misconception we see among clients is that children with short attention spans do better during short (mini) sessions. We find the exact opposite to be true! We do much more than shooting during our sessions. A lot of the time is spent getting to know your children, getting them warmed up/comfortable, taking "adventure walks" between spots, and taking breaks as needed. At least until we know your children well and they feel comfortable with us, we always find it best to allot a full 45 minutes to an hour, no matter what the age or attention span of your child. And don't worry... we have lots of tricks up our sleeves!

What if my children are uncooperative, or we are otherwise unsuccessful?
It is a rare occasion that we aren't able to get fantastic images of your child, regardless of their temperment. We strives to create images that capture all of the facets of their personalities... not just the smiles! If for some reason we aren't able to capture everything we need to, we will schedule a follow up session. No worries... it happens, and is part and parcel when working with young children. If we weren't flexible, we'd be in the wrong industry!

How do newborn sessions work?
Because the newborn period is one fleeting stage of many in the first year, we love working with new babies several times over their first 12-18 months. Click here to learn more about our a-list membership, which is option for newborn clients to enroll in at anytime. Be sure to reach out well before your due date to ensure availability (especially if you would like a maternity session, which is ideally done between 32-36 weeks!). Because our style of newborn portraiture is natural and relaxed, there is no need for baby to be photographed within the first few days. Anytime in the first 3 weeks is ideal and allows us to (typically) achieve both sleepy shots and eye contact shots. Since there is no way to predict exactly when baby will arrive or how mom/baby will be feeling and adjusting, we simply note your due date in our calendar and schedule the exact date and time once you get settled in at home.

What do we expect/bring/wear/etc.?
Once you book your session, we'll send you our session guide with all of the info you will need!

Do you travel?
Happily! Locations beyond 60 miles of Albany, NY will incur a nominal travel fee.

How long does it take to receive our images?
We send out images every week, and aim for a turn around time of less than 2 weeks. Your images are carefully culled to the best of the best, then lightly edited in our clean, classic style. Bruises, scratches, newborn acne, etc. are removed and all images are perfectly processed and ready to print. Your images will be added to your personal, password protected client site, which you can then share, instantly download, and order prints & products, if you so choose.

Do your sessions include digital images? What about prints & products?
Yes. Every session includes the high resolution digital images. We believe that retaining the digital version of your images for printing & archival purposes is very important. We also know that life is busy, and often times digital images end up setting dormant on your computer. For that reason, we also offer stunning wall portraits, as well as our very favorite product… our signature fine art coffee table book, available only to a-list members.
