giving back--smiles are contagious / by Ashley Brown

There is no greater lesson for a child than that of giving back. It isn’t uncommon to witness the generous, heartwarming efforts of our clients and colleagues when it comes to supporting a family in need, or an organization worthy of such devotion. But it touches our hearts tenfold when we learn of the efforts of some of our most prized subjects--the children we photograph--lending a hand to help another child. Our charitable contribution for the month of March will go towards an organization devoted to exactly that--connecting children and adults with their peers who face intellectual or developmental disabilities, and encouraging not only friendships, but also support in the advancement toward integrated employment and leadership development. Best Buddies of New York relies on donations to help them maintain the 24 chapters that currently serve approximately 1,200 capital region residents each year. The spirit of public service for middle school, high school, and college volunteers has a lifelong impact on all that partake in the efforts of Best Buddies.

“It is simply smiles,” said Nicole Burch, area director for Best Buddies, as she referred to the very best moments that she has experienced as part of the organization. “Our students with and without disabilities receive so much joy from being a part of the program that their smiles are contagious."

As always, we are thrilled that we are able to contribute a portion of our March proceeds to such a worthwhile organization.

Note: ABP’s monthly charitable contributions are based on the proceeds from prints, products and sessions. Any session booked with a deposit received will be applicable to that month’s charitable organization, though the session may be held in the proceeding month.
