giving back--empower women and eliminate racism / by Ashley Brown

Not every home life is comprised of the traditional mom, dad, and child. Occasionally, life hands a difficult situation to those doing their very best to simply keep moving forward. In times like these, when faced with troubles, the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region is there to serve our region’s women and children. Women go to the YWCA in times of crisis, as survivors of rape or domestic violence. They come for job training and career counseling, child care, or for health and fitness. Whatever their reason or need, they leave with a renewed sense of being. Isn’t that what we all need now and then? And so, ABP is dedicating the month of February  to the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region. According to Victoria Baecker, director of development at the Y, donations are vital to the very foundation and services that are provided to hundreds of women and children. “This past holiday season, we hosted our annual Adopt-a-Family program where we provided gifts for the over 100 women and children we serve. Those gifts were donated from community members and purchased with monetary donations. That program would not have happened without the generosity of our community."

We encourage you to join us in giving back--to help continue to empower women and eliminate racism--the two core goals of the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region!

Note: ABP’s monthly charitable contributions are based on the proceeds from prints, products and sessions. Any session booked with a deposit received will be applicable to that month’s charitable organization, though the session may be held in the proceeding month.
