a downtown adventure - albany, ny family photographer / by Ashley Brown

A few weeks ago, I put out a casting call on my blog. I was looking for a family to downtown Albany for a session with an urban flair. The S. family were the chosen ones, and perfect they were... a fun and laid back mom and down, and one of the most vibrant, personable and smart 3 year olds I've ever met.

Little miss Z. was truly fabulous to work for. She was up for anything and thought what I talked about was interesting enough to pay attention to (of course, I was talking about Boots and Swiper and how some little butterflies may possibly live in my camera). We trekked all around the State Plaza/Capital Building area, braving a little chill and blister-causing shoes. But the results? Totally worth it.

I'll be posting the entire session on my site as a featured session soon, but in the meantime, here are a few snippets. Hopefully you can see why a downtown session is so neat. Albany boasts some great architecture and limitless nooks and crannies to explore.

Meet the S.'s and George, who came along for the adventure.

Thanks so much, S. family, for letting me lead you around Albany, and for following my every whim! And clients, take note. A downtown session is a nice contrast to the typical park or home setting, and gives images a really cool, editorial feel!
