2014 in review by Ashley Brown

It is impossible to believe that 2014 is officially coming to a close. It was a fantastic year... truly, we could not have asked for a better 7th year in business. I try to be diligent about blogging and sharing our sessions, but it is hard not to fall (way) far behind once the thick of busy season hits. It is impossible to share every family we had the pleasure of working with, but hopefully our year in review post serves well as an overview!

April is always the "borderline" month, but we started transitioning outdoors. It was also a month for several new babies, a fun extended family shoot and a stunning Greek Orthodox baptism of sweet baby Nico.

By May, spring was in full swing, just in time for the first of our spring school fundraisers and our annual mamahood sessions. We also had so much fun shooting a commercial shoot for Bountiful Bread in Albany... if you're ever visiting Stuyvesant Plaza, stop in for a delicious lunch and to check out our images on the walls!

June gave us our first taste of summer, with lots of warm days, bright green backdrops and some super fun shoots, like my croquet shoot with the C. boys and a gorgeous, pre-opening day sessions at the track.

July brought us back to the quintessentially Saratoga backdrop of the track several times, as well as gave us so many perfect (but hot) days for summer sessions. The summer baby boom began, and we got to see the sweet faces we photographed over the winter for our summer follow up sessions.

Over the years, August has quickly become one of my favorite shooting months, and clients have caught on quickly to its benefits... we were running around like crazy this month! The best part was all of the sessions that were held on the shores of Lake George and Sacandaga. I always look forward to these sessions, especially when they take place at sunset (like the session with my buddy Beckett, who travels here every summer from Bermuda!).

September transitions the slow moving summer days to the hectic pace of fall... lots of sessions squeezing out those last days of long light and warm temperatures, apple orchards, and the start of school portrait days and our fall fundraisers!

October is always, hands down, without a doubt our busiest month of the year. Regular sessions, three school fundraisers, school portraits, fall follow up sessions, lots of new babies... and of course, all of the beautiful fall color. Kristen and I are fried by the end of the month, but judging by the images below, its worth it!

November is our second transition month of the year, where we start heading indoors but also fit in the last of our outdoor sessions. These usually feature lots of layers, architecture and super patient kiddos who brave the cold! We wrapped up our fall fundraiser season and hosted our first date of holiday sessions, for the second year at the historic Grooms Tavern.

Our December shooting schedule is short on time but not on sweet faces! We wrapped up the year with out final date of holiday sessions in studio, and my last shooting date of the year couldn't have been more picturesque... an outdoor shoot with a brand new blanket of snow. Not a shabby way to say goodbye to 2014!

As always, a HUGE thank you to all of the families, old and new, who trusted us to come into their lives and homes and capture these special, fleeting memories. We love watching your little ones grow, and can't wait for everything that 2015 (lucky year number 8!) has to offer!

Happy New Year!
